Duties Description • Supervise and inspect building construction projects of moderate size and complexity. • Coordinate the operations of contractors and ensure conformity of work to contract estimates, specifications, standards and construction practices.• Assist higher level staff on larger projects.• Recommend and prepare contract change orders.• May supervise consultant work.• Additional duties as assigned. • Some travel required.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required for Appointment:This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher as listed below; OR proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience as listed below.Qualifying degrees: Architectural Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Engineering, Environmental Resources Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.Qualifying experience: One year of full-time engineering experience related to construction project supervision of the structural and architectural elements of the building.This title includes a traineeship opportunity, and applicants must meet one of the following:A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology (listed above).ORProof of passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) AND one year of full-time engineering experience (listed above).ORCurrent New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 16 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
