The Data Center Capacity Delivery team is looking for exceptional individuals to join our organization as Controls Manager, responsible for the building automation systems and electrical power monitoring system ((BMS/EPMS) deployment and service within Amazon data centers. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a local or remotely located team of highly technically skilled individuals. The candidate will possess a industrial Controls System, project/construction management, mechanical, electrical or technology background that enables him/her to undertake the challenges of sophisticated controls platforms and a demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically in aligning building controls and automation with the larger objectives of the business.
Key job responsibilities
• Managing team of Data Center Controls Engineers and Technicians.
• Able to implement and track team goals, projects, budget, report the status of ongoing projects upwards.
• Experienced Interviewer, able to develop launch plans for new hires, and identify team needs.
• Strong writing skills, able to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely
• Experienced in Installation, Programming and troubleshooting of BMS/EPMS systems and/or industrial controls systems.
• Understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC.
• Ability to ascertain customer needs to help develop project scope and specifications.
• Ability to manage scope of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.
• Ability to manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and implementing those specifications as they apply the work environment.
• Development of Scope of Work, Level of Efforts (LOE), project plan and budget.
• Development of control panel BOM’s
• Development of ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation.
• Preparation of cable, routing plans and schedules.
• Review of drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes. Included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
• Performing inspects, testing, and commission of the data centers related BMS and EPMS system.
• Work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.
• Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
• Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
• Manage service and construction contracts with vendors.
• Able to operate with little to no supervision
Travel domestically, no more than 15%

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports experience
- 3+ years of people management and team development experience
- 4+ years of general contractor and vendor management work (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science plus 8+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 12+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- 4+ years of experience in controls management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
- 3+ years of experience managing deployment of complex electrical and mechanical controls systems, including large scale power distribution or generation, and cooling systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of vendor management experience
- 6 Yrs. Directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching teams of controls professionals
- 3 Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and electrical engineering principals
- 3 Yrs. Exp. In Data Center system-level architecture and mechanical engineering principals
- Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure
- Certified as a Professional Engineer (PE)
- Prior AWS/Amazon experience
- 5+ Yr. Military Service

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
