    Responsibilities

    Responsible for long term planning of the work units and sets operational plans that are in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. Provides leadership in department performance management and mentoring. Oversees issue resolution across assigned areas and ensures decisions are in alignment with institutional and departmental mission, vision, and goals. Formulates and implements policy relating to quality control. This includes acquisition, maintenance, cleaning, and delivery of specified patient care equipment and instrumentation for the Mayo Florida and RST campus. Oversees evaluation of processing equipment and storage area compliance. Collaborate with enterprise and site oversight groups to ensure compliance of policies and procedures. Oversees administration of personnel policy for all staff function in the Sterile Processing Services Departments. Quality of services must be monitored and the ability to initiate continuous improvement activities and strive for excellence.

     

    Accountability for department meeting required accreditation standards. In addition, customer service must be monitored, and customer input sought. A systems analysis approach is necessary to assure efficient delivery patterns. Various methods should be utilized to monitor the efficient utilization of equipment including tracking, management information databases, maintenance records, quality assurance, and continuous improvement strategies. Sets up multidisciplinary committee structures which facilitate the interaction of groups to review resource management. Involves users of resources in the process of cost reduction. Interacts with vendors and participates in organization committees and work groups as appropriate. The scope of responsibility for this position includes 24-hour clinical management accountability for assigned areas including developing processes and policies and implementing patient safety standards.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Business,; or eight years of work experience in Sterile Processing. 3 years as a supervisor with progressive management expertise. Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work with many communication styles. Continuous improvement project experience. High self-initiative. Excellent audiovisual and verbal presentation skills. Proficiency in basic computer skills (word processing, E-mail, Excel, etc.) Knowledge of sterilization processes and standards. Knowledge of sterile processing and HLD functions and standards. Previous successful management experience as a leader with sterile processing and HLD processes and responsibility which includes departmental goal setting and strategic planning is preferred. Master degree preferred. Current Sterile Processing Technician certification (CSPDT or CRCST) from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
