Microbiology Lab Assistant
Job Description
Join a dynamic team as a Microbiology Lab Assistant, where you will play a vital role in our laboratory and logistics operations. You will be responsible for assisting in media production, sample disposal, and maintaining lab cleanliness. After gaining experience as a Lab Assistant, you will transition to logistics to support the shipping team with organizing shipments and managing inventory.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in media preparation and production.
+ Dispose of samples and properly store glassware.
+ Clean and stock the laboratory environment.
+ Assist with counting probiotics on petri dishes.
+ Transition to logistics after 1-2 months to understand lab needs and product orders.
+ Receive, order, and store items as part of logistics operations.
+ Support the shipping team with organizing incoming and outgoing shipments.
+ Prepare items for shipment, including assembling, temping, coding, addressing, stamping, and shipping.
+ Have knowledge of 49 CFR part 172, IATA Dangerous Goods, and DOT hazardous materials.
Essential Skills
+ High school diploma or Associate's degree in the sciences.
+ At least 6 months of lab-related experience, including support roles.
+ Experience of 1+ years in a food service position (e.g., server, bussing, bartender).
+ Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong organizational skills and adaptability.
+ Routine/repetitive background in warehouse, assembly, or basic lab settings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in food testing or food service is advantageous.
+ Knowledge of SOPs and microbiology laboratory practices.
+ Food industry experience is a plus.

This is a Contract position based out of Madison, Wisconsin
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
