• Engineering Technician / Test Technician

    Actalent (Elgin, IL)


    Engineering Technician - 12 month+ long contract!

     

    More mechanical based.

     

    Prepare informal, and formal, tests reports for both internal and external customers.

     

    Perform testing on prototypes, existing, and competitor products following written test procedures and instructions from testing documents.

     

    Will typically be running 6-8 tests at a time on 3-4 machines

     

    Conduct tests to stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, and environmental functions.

     

    Perform measurements and visual inspections.

     

    Record and document data and photos of products.

     

    Perform routine maintenance of laboratory test equipment and tools.

     

    Assist in assembly and operation of laboratory test equipment.

     

    Purchase laboratory supplies and test fixtures.

     

    Work with, and setup, transducers for pressure, load, torque, strain gage measurements, and thermocouples.

     

    Knowledge of principles of temperature measurement using bi-metal junction and infrared equipment.

    3+ years of working in a engineering test lab Experience with calipers, micrometers, height gauges a plus

    2 or 4 year college degree related to technical field (mechanical engineering, engineering technology, automotive industry etc. ) Highly preferred

     

    Must be able to analyze and interpret data

     

    Blueprint reading a must

     

    Must be able to document test results in excel or other software's

     

    Strong mechanical aptitude PLC experience would be a plus - would be able to then help support development activities

     

    CAD experience a plus - would be able to help design a fixture to perform testing better

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
