             Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer who will be pivotal in developing mechanical designs that align with the customer's scope of work, ensuring safety and precision. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of production equipment and work cells used in factory automation. This includes creating detailed 3-D models and 2-D drawings, as well as preparing a bill of materials for purchasing components. Responsibilities + Develop mechanical designs that meet customer specifications and safety standards. + Create 3-D models and 2-D drawings for components and assemblies. + Prepare a bill of materials for mechanical components. + Participate in design reviews and project kick-off meetings. + Occasionally reverse engineer equipment in the shop or on the factory floor. + Specify mechanical and pneumatic components such as motors, bearings, and valves. + Communicate effectively about welding and fabrication methods. + Travel occasionally, up to 10%, mostly within surrounding states. + Work independently to create designs from the customer's scope of work. + Understand design concepts, blueprints, and contracts with minimal supervision. + Prepare estimates for design time and material costs. + Organize and archive final documents using Solid Works PDM software. + Collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members. Essential Skills + Experience in mechanical design. + Proficiency in Solid Works or similar Parasolid modeling software. + Knowledge of FEA tools in Solid Works is a plus. + Understanding of machine shop practices and tolerance capabilities. + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. + Ability to independently create mechanical designs from customer specifications. + Basic organizational skills and proficiency in closing out and archiving documents. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Toyota standards is a plus. + Experience in material handling and/or industrial automation. + Delmia/Catia experience is a plus. + 2-5 years of experience is preferred. + Strong team collaboration and communication skills. Work Environment This position is based in a large machine shop specializing in custom automated material handling equipment, conveyors, tooling, and fixtures. The role primarily involves working in an office environment but requires occasional visits to the factory floor to verify designs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Georgetown, Kentucky. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.50 - $41.75/hr.
