Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ The Library Assistant Security Supervisor reports directly to the

Library Security Director and serves as a service point contact

between Library staff and the security team. The Library Assistant

Security Supervisor works under the direction of the Library

Security Director to assist in the operation of the various

components of the library’s security program. The program

encompasses the library’s security personnel, video surveillance

equipment, card access, and intrusion alarms. Patrols the building

daily to support the Building Operations team in identifying issues.

+ Serves as responder for building fire alarms, facilities disasters &

medical emergencies. Duties also include assisting in scheduling

Temporary Library Security Officers, serving as liaison to Campus

Police and administration duties of the library’s Security Office.

The Library Assistant Security Supervisor must have the ability to

meet and communicate with students, faculty, staff, and the public

in a courteous, tactful and effective manner. The Library Assistant

Security Supervisor must be able to effectively communicate

university and library expectations to these populations in order to

encourage compliance with guidelines, policies, and standards.

Minimum Experience / Education:

+ High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in security, enforcement, or protection work.

+ Valid N.C. driver’s license.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

At least 5 years of law enforcement or security related experience

and/or has completed Basic Law Enforcement training or an equivalent training experience. Good interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently are essential.
