    Job Title: Distribution Field TechnicianJob Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated Distribution Field Technician for a 9-month contract with the potential to transition to a direct hire. This role requires individuals to be at least 21 years old due to company policy for driving and to pass the MVR screening report. The technician will be responsible for conducting field inspections of both overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment, compiling field data, preparing minor work orders, and maintaining distribution equipment reports.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.

    + Compile field data collection and prepare minor work orders and maintenance reports.

    + Measure and map out Low Voltage Distribution (LVD) systems.

    + Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.

    + Perform system inventories and audits, joint-use management, permitting, pad-mount inspections, and ground-line pole inspections.

    + Provide metering and apparatus services and conduct lighting audits.

    + Collect field data using laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices.

    + Develop a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and electric utility construction standards.

    + Operate necessary equipment such as height sticks and range finders for measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.

    + Perform pole inspections and maintenance on pad-mount equipment.

    + Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.

    Essential Skills

    + High School Diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.

    + Field data collection and analysis skills.

    + Experience with GPS mapping and data collection.

    + Knowledge of NESC codes.

    + Ability to work with utility distribution lines, poles, and midspan facilities.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience working with customers, landowners, and clients to facilitate power utility asset replacements and upgrades.

    + Ability to manage joint-use make-ready construction within time and budget constraints.

    + Experience in pre-field work, design analysis, and field work.

    Work Environment

    The work environment requires reporting to the Grand Rapids office daily. Upon arrival, technicians will be assigned to a team member who will drive them to their field location for the day. Most work locations are within an hour's drive from the office.     This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
