    Job Title: Laboratory Technician - FormulationsJob Description

     

    This position involves performing routine testing on samples in the Formulations laboratory to provide analytical data essential for process control, quality control, and process development.

    Responsibilities

    + Independently perform routine analytical testing to support Formulation production plants, potentially working various shifts including weekends and holidays.

    + Prepare and analyze samples using a variety of physical analytical techniques and sophisticated equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, rheometers, auto-titrators, and laser particle size analyzers.

    + Understand and operate the STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other instrument-specific software systems.

    + Search databases for test methods and specifications needed to complete analyses, and promptly and accurately record, calculate, and report analytical results.

    + Maintain appropriate records to meet internal requirements and ISO 9001 standards.

    + Observe good safety and housekeeping practices.

    + Maintain and clean laboratory supplies, prepare solutions, dispose of solid/liquid waste, and perform other duties to aid overall laboratory operations.

    + Follow oral and written instructions accurately.

    + Be knowledgeable of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, including waste determinations, waste codes, and how to immediately communicate spills and leaks. Also, understand labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping requirements for accumulating waste in satellite accumulation areas and less than 90-day containers.

    + Complete initial RCRA hazardous waste training within one month of starting the job.

    + Communicate and cooperate with Formulation operators, other Formulations team members, and management to optimize productivity and prioritization.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma with chemistry and algebra, or 10-20 hours of college chemistry and algebra, or a BS degree in a science discipline.

    + Good oral and written communication skills.

    + High attention to detail.

    + Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload for laboratory efficiency and productivity.

    + Cooperative attitude and effective teamwork skills.

    + Good computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 1-3 years of laboratory experience, ideally with ICP and HPLC.

    + A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry is preferred.

    Work Environment

    The work schedule includes an evening shift from 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday), with periodic weekend work from 7 am to 3 pm, typically involving two weekend days. The Kansas City facility focuses on pesticide active ingredient manufacturing, formulation, and packaging operations.

    This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, Missouri.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
