This position is located at the BMV Operations Center at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis. The BMV team works throughout the state of Indiana and is dedicated to fostering an environment where we: • Invest in our employees • Engage our customers • Provide sustainable systems • Embrace product innovation Role Overview: The Clerical Assistant supports the Program Director in achieving agency performance metrics, adhering to BMV policies and procedures, and implementing process improvement across the Division while focusing on efficiency gains and conflict resolution, specifically as they relate to Driver Education, the Driver Safety Program, and the associated Indiana Administrative Code. Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $27,638. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are: + Support the daily operations of an organization by performing general office tasks + Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate person according to their needs. + Answer telephones, give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals. + Open, sort, and route incoming mail and correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail. + Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers. + Accurately maintain and organize office files. + Deliver messages and run errands. + Maintain inventory, orders, and distributes supplies. + Complete tasks or projects on time as assigned by the supervisor. What You'll Need for Success: The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have: • High School Diploma or equivalent. Upon entering the role, individuals must have or obtain the following requirements: + Working knowledge of general office functions and clerical procedures. + Basic computer skills. + Active listening skills. + Effective written and verbal communication skills. + Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. + Attention to detail and proofreading skills. + Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). + Ability to work with sensitive documents and information, and be privy to sensitive agency information without divulging information to internal or external parties. + Ability to work independently. + Ability to provide effective and professional customer service to internal and external parties. + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
