    The Department of Emergency Medicine at The Larner College of Medicine ( LCOM ) at The University of Vermont ( UVM ) is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician desiring a career in academic emergency medicine. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Scholar Pathway will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.

     

    Our Network Department of Emergency Medicine (https://www.uvm.edu/larnermed/emergencymedicine) provides clinical coverage for the University of Vermont Health across hospital sites in Vermont and northern New York. Collectively, we provide service for approximately 200,000 patient visits annually, and our hospitals serve a catchment of 40,000 square miles and 1.4M people. LCOM students and emergency medicine residents train clinically at three of our sites with elective rotations at the other sites. Our primary teaching campus is the University of Vermont Medical Center, the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the greater region. The majority of our academic faculty provide clinical coverage at multiple sites, including our rural and critical access sites in both states, underscoring our commitment to high quality rural acute care delivery.

Educational responsibilities vary between locations but include direct education and supervision of LCOM medical students, emergency medicine residents, and other learners throughout a variety of disciplines and healthcare professions. Our department currently supports initiatives and programs in multiple subspecialties including emergency medical services, pediatric emergency medicine, critical care, research, ultrasound, global health, wilderness medicine, medical education, simulation, and toxicology.     Successful candidates will participate in the academic, educational, and scholarly missions of LCOM and University of Vermont Health. Applicants must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Emergency Medicine ( ABEM ) and eligible for licensure in the states of New York and Vermont. Although all interested candidates are encouraged to apply, strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in the teaching, research, and clinical activities of academic emergency medicine, as well as those who have experience in rural care delivery and/or critical access hospital emergency departments.     Anticipated Pay Range

     

    Assistant Professor: $310,000 – $407,750

     

    Associate Professor: $340,000 – $412,250

     

    Professor: $365,000 – $416,000

     

    The referenced salary ranges reflect the combined total range based on dual employment by both the University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Health Medical Group. The salary ranges do not include all components of compensation. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary ranges stated herein.
