    Manufacturing Engineering Intern- Summer 2026

     

    The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting production and engineering in the design and development of manufacturing processes, work instructions, production router/ travelers throughout the operation to maximize safety, product quality, and efficiency.

Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.

     

    Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.

     

    Our Facility in Appleton, WI manufactures state-of-the-art circuit boards for Aerospace and Defense as well as Industrial and Medical Industries.

     

    Standard Essential Functions

     

    + Provide routine technical support to the operations team.

    + Assist with defect reduction efforts using Statistical Process Controls.

    + Support continuous improvement activities to improve manufacturing operations.

    + Develop and procure tooling and jigs.

    + Support cross-functional initiatives to ensure on-time delivery of product.

    + Participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.

    + Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to develop process routing.

    + Determine root cause and corrective action of non-conforming product and NCMR in MRB meetings.

     

    Required Skills and Qualifications

     

    + Analytical and problem-solving skills

    + Basic circuit analysis and knowledge of electronics safety precautions.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + Proficiency with computer usage and knowledge of Microsoft Office

     

    Required Experience and Education

     

    + Candidate must be currently pursuing/ working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field(s) from an accredited College or University. Junior or Senior standing as of fall 2026.
