Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Vehicle Performance Development 1 (VPD1) is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Safety and Crash Worthiness Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and confirm Crash Safety Performance for Toyota’s North American and global market truck platform vehicles.
The person in this role will support the VPD1 department's objective to develop safe vehicles for our customers.
What you’ll be doing
+ Responsible for Crash safety performance development of components and some system evaluations
+ Set up, conduct component level and some system level evaluations and/or Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) following existing standards; Identifies key change points and ensures appropriate measurement systems
+ Develop mechanism of phenomena using fundamental engineering and physics; Study change points by design review, and predict performance trends using engineering calculation and analysis tools
+ Propose countermeasures based on thorough root cause analysis, considering side effects within own function, as well as cross functional communication with evaluation teams
+ Prepare and report technical analysis for component performance in a logical way to get consensus within department; Support analysis and material preparation for Target setting and Performance strategy plan
+ Maintain weekly schedule to track performance and open items to meet internal due dates
+ Mentor, Lead Coop students
What you bring
+ B.S in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
+ Two or more years of experience in automotive engineering or related field (including internships, co-ops, etc.) OR a Master’s degree in Engineering
+ Good communication with the ability to work cross-functionally with international, multi-cultural teams
+ Strong technical documentation, presentation, and reporting skills
+ Experience with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
+ Experience with engineering analysis tools/software
Added bonus if you have
+ M.S in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
+ Experience in Safety & Crash worthiness
+ Experience using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) / to analyze dynamic phenomena
+ Programming skills
+ Understanding of basic Toyota Business Practices
