Position Overview We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Vascular Surgery to join our distinguished team at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center®. As a vital member of our vascular surgery program, you will work collaboratively with our surgeons to deliver comprehensive care to patients in both clinical and operative settings. Key Responsibilities + Patient Evaluation & Management + Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and review of diagnostic imaging and lab data. + Develop and implement evidence-based care plans for patients with vascular conditions. + Collaborate closely with attending surgeons and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient management and optimize outcomes. + Surgical Assistance + Assist vascular surgeons during open and endovascular procedures, adhering to sterile technique and surgical protocols. + Prepare patients for surgery and support intraoperative and postoperative management. + Provide procedural support and ensure patient safety throughout perioperative care. + Pre- and Post-Operative Care + Manage preoperative evaluations, patient education, and informed consent processes. + Deliver postoperative care, including wound management, medication management, and complication monitoring. + Educate patients and families regarding discharge instructions, recovery expectations, and follow-up care. + Collaboration & Communication + Partner with nurses, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and other clinical professionals to ensure coordinated care. + Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and their families to foster understanding and trust. + Documentation & Compliance + Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. + Complete surgical notes, progress reports, and care plans within EMR systems. Qualifications + Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. + Current New York State PA licensure and NCCPA certification. + BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (no online programs accepted). + DEA registration required for those with discharge or prescribing responsibilities. + Prior experience in vascular surgery, general surgery, or critical care preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations or interest in vascular surgery will be considered. + Strong interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills. Preferred Competencies + Knowledge of vascular anatomy, endovascular and open surgical techniques, and postoperative management. + Ability to function effectively in fast-paced inpatient and operative environments. + Commitment to evidence-based practice and compassionate patient care.
