Job Description This role will be an understudy to the Product Safety Technical Leader and begin to assist in that role immediately. The technical leader: o is the person assigned by the Product Safety Manager to oversee the basic technical operations of the Product Safety Lab. The Product Safety Technical Leader shall be responsible for the general technical direction of the department, primarily in the areas of research and design activity. o shall have an electrical or mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent experience, and at least 4 years of technical experience in the Product Safety field and/or with Lexmark products combined. An appropriate level of technical experience can be judged by the Product Safety Manager. It is recommended that the individual has some familiarity with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001. o is the foremost subject matter expert on safety related device functionality and field incident responses. • In addition, the individual should: + Understand/coordinate/maintain product safety compliance/certifications and emerging safety standards in various geographies with requisite agencies in concert with product development and other compliance groups at the full product portfolio level + Understand and become proficient at the following: + Review product design to ensure compliance with global industry and corporate safety requirements + Provide Product Safety testing and report submission to safety agencies (such as UL) as part of Corporate Product Safety Group + Review schematics diagrams for compliance with safety standards and design practices + Review mechanical designs for proper use of flame-retarded plastics, sharp edges, fire enclosures, proper grounding, power supply/AC adapter design + Duties may include research, evaluation, development, and application of new processes and methods into new products to ensure compliance with safety requirements + Work with development engineering teams to develop new products which comply with global safety agency test standards (UL, CSA, CE Mark) + Work collaboratively in a team/cross-functional environment + Keep products safe, certified and available to Lexmark’s addressable global market + **Qualifications/Requirements** + **Minimum:** + Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with strong knowledge base of printer technology and the sciences + Four or more years’ experience in product development, technology development, program management and/or product safety, specifically with Office printers + Strong written, graphical and oral communication skills + Demonstrates ability to analyze test data, make recommendations, and propose effective, manufacturable designs + Self-motivated and persistent + Adapts to changing requirements and project needs + Ability to travel domestically and internationally + Direct experience in the design, evaluation and testing of products In-depth knowledge of product safety standards and Hazard Based Safety Engineering with a systematic analysis capability.
