    Position Description

    The Office Support Specialist 2 - Sportsplex oversees, coordinates, and participates in clerical and record keeping activities of a division/office and performs a variety of professional level administrative and clerical duties for upper level management. May involve top-level and lead work involving all phases and functions for the Centennial Sportsplex. Performs related duties as required.

     

    This position will require a flexible work schedule including some nights and/or weekends

     

    Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. It is the mission of Metro Parks and Recreation to sustainably and equitably provide everyone in Davidson County with an inviting network of parks and greenways that offer health, wellness and quality of life through recreation, conservation and community.

    Typical Duties

    + Oversees, coordinates, and participates in clerical and record-keeping activities of a division/office and performs a variety of professional-level administrative and clerical duties for upper-level management.

    + Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises employees

    + Works with the superintendent on long-range planning including DEIA and accessibility initiatives and strategic planning for growth and collaboration.

    + Oversees, coordinates, and participates in professional-level administrative work.

    + Performs responsible clerical functions for budget preparation of the department or division.

    + Prepares reports on programs or projects for management

    + Serves as liaison between department and customer.

    + Provides information to internal and external customers in person and/or over the phone.

    + Reconciles any daily receipts/fees that have been collected during the day.

    + Responsible for making bank runs, mail pickup, attending job fairs and transporting materials, etc..

    + Performs Random audits of Revenue Producing Facilities

    + Creates useful documents/forms in Microsoft Word/Excel/Access.

    + Operates various office equipment.

    + Compiles and maintains records and files.

    + May receive, sort, and distribute mail.

    + May order and stock supplies.

    + Designs, develops, implements, and modifies operational processes and procedures for maximum efficiency

    + Serves role as requisitioner and buyer in R12

    + Submits Travel Requisitions

    + All other related duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    High School Diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of increasingly responsible clerical/administrative experience.

     

    *Additional education will be considered in lieu of experience* (1:1 Ratio)

     

    License Required: Valid Driver's License

    Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

     

    Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

    + Customer Service Experience
