    We are seeking a **Business Manager** **_,_** to support the Central Supply Chain, Operational Readiness, and Technology teams supporting datacenters globally. This role is responsible for driving business operations, program management, and strategic initiatives while partnering closely with leadership to ensure operational excellence, effective governance, and alignment to organizational goals. Business Managers acts as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, orchestrating the rhythm of business, managing cross-functional projects, and enabling data-driven decision-making.

     

    Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than one hundred datacenters and one million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts, who work tirelessly to support digital services for more than one billion customers and twenty million businesses in over ninety countries worldwide.

     

    Within CO+I, the Core Datacenter Services (CDS) team is responsible for improving overall availability and efficiency for Microsoft’s cloud business. We have multiple teams focused on both Microsoft and Lessor datacenter performance and all aspects of datacenter utilization effectiveness that includes power, water and labor.     Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    Business Operations

    + Drives business direction by managing planning processes that integrate corporate priorities with global supply chain and technology strategies. Ensures alignment across partner organizations.

    + Designs and executes the Rhythm of Business (ROB), enabling clarity and accountability for leadership decisions and outcomes.

    + Leads business review cadence and governance, ensuring compliance with privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

    + Partners with Finance and Procurement to manage budgets, forecasting, and resource planning for global programs. Aligns headcount strategy with organizational goals and operational needs.

    Maximizing the Leader

    + Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions and driving clarity on priorities, goals, and execution plans.

    + Synthesizes complex supply chain and technology insights into actionable recommendations for the leadership team.

    + Supports organizational design, talent planning, and culture initiatives to strengthen the organization’s ability to deliver on its mission.

    Organizational Health

    + Monitors team health and leads initiatives that foster inclusion, engagement, and growth.

    + Partners with HR to land organizational changes, onboarding, and skilling plans. Ensures compliance training and scorecard health across the organization.

    Special Projects and Initiatives

    + Leads cross-functional projects that advance global supply chain transformation, technology enablement, and operational resilience.

    + Acts as program manager for initiatives requiring coordination across engineering, operations, and partner teams.

    Executive Communication

    + Crafts executive-level communications and presentations that articulate priorities and impact.

    + Ghostwrites and triages leader communications to optimize time and ensure clarity of message.

    + Develops storytelling content for internal and external audiences, connecting work to broader corporate strategy.

    Governance and Performance

    + Establishes KPIs and reporting mechanisms to measure performance against strategic objectives.

    + Drives accountability for execution of core business activities and evangelizes best practices across the organization.

    + Creates clarity in ambiguous situations to enable prioritization and decision-making at scale.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.

    + 4+ years managing complex projects, building budgets, driving cross-functional alignment, and managing large organizational change at scale.

    _Other Requirements:_

    _Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:_

     

    + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check** : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 2+ years in datacenter or operational supply chains

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and business analytics tools such as PowerBI

    + Proactive positive outlook and approach to change management

    + Proven project management and organization skills

    + Established business acumen and mental agility to ramp quickly across our diverse business and offerings

    + Enjoy working under pressure and deadlines

    + Proven effectiveness collaborating across groups and driving multi-stakeholder planning processes to desired results

    + Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues and formulate recommendations to a wide variety of audiences are essential

    + Solid problem-solving skills with strong technical proficiency and strategic thinking

    + Self-managing leader who takes initiative

    + Able to deal with ambiguity and complex, matrixed, & fast paced environments

     

    Business Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
