    Become a Substation Electrical Engineering Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll manage a group of Substation Electrical Engineers in the Desert / San Jacinto region who are responsible for detailed scoping, engineering, design and providing construction support for all substation projects. As the Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting your team daily. Key responsibilities include providing clear direction for team members, effectively managing the team's workload, and overseeing the performance of design contractors to ensure adherence to cost, schedule, and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with leaders and teams throughout the organization to achieve shared objectives, proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities, and drive operational excellence across engineering initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    + Leads a select set of engineering and business initiatives to develop grid strategies, determine how the grid is planned, designed, operated, and maintained to operationalize company's strategy

    + Develops and maintains a project portfolio management system to prioritize projects, allocate resources, and monitor performance

    + Evaluates new technologies and methodologies to enhance project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability, designing and implementing improvement projects and new systems to support site initiatives and improve operational efficiency

    + Establishes and maintains relationships with external partners, vendors, and contractors to support project delivery and innovation

    + Coaches engineering teams on professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge

    + Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy, technology and safety program to ensure company advancement toward future vision and the well-being of employees and contractors involved in engineering projects

    + Manages the engineering team that provides emergent and routine trouble-shooting support for plant technical needs. Manages various contract engineers and works with those individuals to ensure consistency and quality in design, delivery milestone dates, and cost

    + Leads the design and implementation of new equipment and cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput

    + Develops goals for engineering team and assigns projects/roles to employees that translate Sr. Manager levels goals into actionable tasks

    + A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Five or more years of combined experience performing or supervising engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience and familiarity with substation engineering, design and standards.

    + Experience in supervising and/or leading cross functional teams.

    + Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).

    + Licensed Professional Engineer.

    + Project Management certification.

    + Demonstrated experience implementing process improvements to enhance the quality and timeliness of engineering deliverables.

    + Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

    Additional Information

    + This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

    + The primary work location for this position is Pomona, CA (PIV1). However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).

    + Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
