    Founded in 1914, CTI is one of the largest specialty steel service centers in the U.S., with over 1.2 million square feet of state-of-the-art facilities and more than 30,000-line items in inventory. Our Romeoville location offers a wide variety of metals including carbon, stainless, and aluminum pipe, tube, bar, fittings, and more, plus value-added services such as tube/fabrication, laser cutting, bending, welding, sawing, and custom stocking programs.

     

    We are seeking a 3rd Shift Assistant Plant Manager for our Romeoville Facility

    Key Responsibilities

    + Champion a culture of safety by enforcing and improving CTI Safety Policies. Ensure all employees follow established safety standards and procedures.

    + Direct all 3rd shift manufacturing and distribution activities, maintaining a smooth workflow from job creation through completion.

    + Schedule, assign, and manage personnel and equipment for optimal efficiency and resource utilization.

    + Oversee accurate pulling, receiving, and storage of raw materials and finished goods.

    + Ensure timely and accurate completion of inventory cycle counts.

    + Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and operational effectiveness across all departments.

    + Maintain attendance records, conduct performance evaluations, and administer disciplinary actions as directed by the Plant Manager.

    + Enforce company policies, rules, and regulations among employees and contractors.

    + Communicate effectively with other shifts and departments to ensure production continuity and customer satisfaction.

    + Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

    Qualifications/Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

    + Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or distribution (metals industry preferred).

    + Strong understanding of inventory management, production scheduling, quality control, and personnel management.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with ERP systems a plus.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings.

    + Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented.

    + Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

    + Committed to continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of safety and performance.

    Working environment/physical demands:

    + Position requires environmental demands of working outdoors in both summer and winter conditions.

    + Must be able to occasionally lift, move, and raise objects between 5 – 60 pounds on average.

    + This position also requires walking and standing about 5 - 8 hours of the day.

    + Exposed to warehouse working conditions and surroundings, while wearing the required PPE.

    + Some occasional off-site travel may be required.

     

    Benefits

    A starting salary higher than $75,000 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
