If yes, then this internship at Publix may be the perfect fit for you. The Student Data Analyst program is a semiannual program based in our Lakeland corporate headquarters. Our goal is to provide the Student Data Analyst as much exposure to the day-to-day work of a full-time Data Analyst as possible, so the student works directly with the Publix Supply Chain Data Analytics team to assist with Supply Chain Forecasting, Pharmacy, Inventory Shrinkage, Risk Management, and Activity Based Costing projects.

Responsibilities include:

+ working with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to research and apply statistical modeling algorithms that can be utilized to improve forecast accuracy

+ finding an algorithm to better identify outliers in the reporting which will help drive improvements in shrink

Year End Bonus:

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week’s pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks’ pay.

Required Qualifications:

+ coordinate your own housing within a commutable distance of the work location

+ rising, Junior, Senior, or Master’s candidate in Analytics, MIS, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics or similar analytical discipline.

+ demonstrated experience solving analytical problems through internship or course work.

+ experience coding with SQL, Python and/or R

+ advanced knowledge of MS Excel

+ intermediate knowledge of MS Access

+ basic knowledge of SQL and Python and/or R

+ must have Knowledge of data analytics best practices.

+ must have solid mathematics and statistics knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, or R

+ basic knowledge of Power BI
