             Job Description Summary The Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Center in Gas Power is the largest power generation monitoring facility in the world, monitoring over 900 power plants and over 3000 turbines. The core of the service is to make recommendations to customers that directly impact their availability, reliability, or thermal efficiency. The organization is split into mini technical teams aligned by technology; combustion, rotor dynamics, valves and accessories, thermal performance, etc. The M&D Lead engineer for this role will work in Steam Turbine operability and rotor dynamics. This role has two main responsibilities; to make technical recommendations customers and to help solve technical fleet problems though the design of new analytics. You will interact with frontline M&D Engineers and subject matter experts, Product Service, CPM/CSL’s, and customer site personnel on regular basis. This is a unique role that is a part of a diverse team of 30+ global engineers that make recommendations to our customers to help them maximize run time. This role is a combination of complex technical work, project management and the use of Lean principles. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities + Learn steam turbine operability as it relates M&D analytics and detectable failure modes. This will involve learning the failures/RCA's on the fleet, as well as how sensor data is used in analytics to detect/prevent failures. + Make recommendations to customers that will prevent unplanned downtime, damage to the turbine, and help scope maintenance outages. + Conduct training with the Frontline M&D team to assure steam turbine alarms are vetted properly. + Utilize Lean principles to modify processes and make recommendations on where analytics need updated. + Be the domain expert in the analytics building process, assisting the data scientist and coders deliver a high quality analytic + Work with product services on top issues and RCA's in combustion Required Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field of study + Minimum of 1 year experience in engineering or related field Desired Characteristics + Technical experience with gas or steam turbines or power generation + Field or services experience in generators or gas/steam turbines + Has a track record of delivering results and leading teams/projects in a dynamic business environment + Strong communication skills both writing and verbal. Comfortable communicating regularly with our global teams and customer base. Communicates clearly and concisely. + Has a system engineering view of turbine/generators with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills + Self-starter with multi-tasking abilities + Customer focused + Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives + Understands GEV's products, capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to develop offerings that meet customer needs + Encourages input from all members of their team + Strong sense of continuous improvement, ability to objectively look for ways to eliminate waste Additional Information The base pay range for this position is 79,400.00 - 99,200.00 - 119,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% Variable Incentive Bonus.
