This position is located in the New Roads OMV office. This position oversees the operations and staff of a motor vehicle office, ensuring efficient and compliant service related to vehicle registration, licensing, and related transactions. They manage personnel, implement policies, and maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing motor vehicles. They also play a key role in training, resource allocation and communication. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent plus five years of experience or training in any field. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: May be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Incumbent accepts total responsibility for the office and its operations. This includes responsibility for all employees, approving of leave, performance rating, etc. Incumbent is responsible for security or daily bank deposits and security of the building and the contents thereof which are the properties of the Office of Motor Vehicles at the open and close of the workday. Assigns, review and evaluates the work processed by employees and provides assistance and information in unique situations/cases which may develop from altered documents, improper documentation, irate customers, etc. Responsible for the compiling of statistics for daily, weekly and monthly reports of productions, inventories, sales of inspection stickers, petty cash fund, supplies, etc. These reports are submitted to the Motor Vehicle Region Manager/ Field. Responsible for the daily deposits of all funds collected, verifying accuracy of supporting reports and the physical bank deposits. Monitors office operations to ensure that all transactions are properly completed, randomly audits work production, purges lines that develop for waiting customers, answers correspondence, handles inquiries, composes and issues rejection letters when submitted documents are not adequate. Also answers complaints either by written or phone correspondence to address issues in question. Maintains good public relations with the general public, public officials, lending institutions, dealers, notaries, etc. in order to provide efficient and effective service. Incumbent is responsible for promoting a positive image representative of the Office of Motor Vehicles/Field. Incumbent interviews applicants for job opening. Incumbent trains new employees. Incumbent counsels employees, and if needed, recommends disciplinary action up the chain of command. Incumbent maintains time and attendance records for all employees. Incumbent performs the duties of the Motor Vehicle Office/Field in the issuance of driver's license, vehicle registrations. certificate of title and reinstatement functions. Process driver's license applications, reviews documentation and performs all testing requirements. This includes administering road test to determine the driving skills of the applicant. Reviews documents submitted for vehicle registrations and reinstatement policies and collects appropriate fees. Orders all supplies, including, but not limited to, license plates, motor vehicle inspection stickers, camera supplies, forms and janitorial supplies. Ascertains the accuracy of plates and completes an affidavit for any missing items. Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule:Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
