    Colorado Parks and Wildlife was given an incredible mission by the people of Colorado - Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources.

     

    The Branding and Communications Section exists to lead the planning, development, creation, implementation and evaluation of creative methods and communications techniques to efficiently communicate CPW programs, products and activities to local, regional and national publics based upon CPW leadership goals. The work unit is responsible for communicating with the public using the agency website, press releases, social media, regulation brochure publications, mass marketing efforts, video, and Colorado Outdoors Magazine and blog. The work unit is also responsible for pricing, production and distribution of these materials. The work unit is also responsible for overseeing the CPW retail operations, including the online store.

    Description of Job

    The responsibilities of the marketing project manager include planning marketing campaign timelines, delegating tasks to project team members, working with internal clients on project needs, following up on section’s tasks and assignments, managing the Asana platform for the section and ensuring marketing/communication projects are completed on time and within budget.

     

    Collaborative and Strategic Project Planning

     

    Coordinates with CPW staff clients, branding and communications teammates, executive management team and other relevant parties to plan and carry out assigned creative projects. Works with section manager and supervisors to manage and facilitate project needs and assign appropriate team members. Plans and facilitates internal meetings to advance projects and ensure successful project outcomes. Monitors project progress and keeps stakeholders informed.

     

    Management and Enhancement of Asana Software and Workflows

     

    Subject matter expert on translating incoming project requests into workflows and staffing assignments within the section. Uses and continually develops project management, facilitation and leadership skills by accepting feedback, maintaining flexibility and evolving the system to meet staff or project needs. Maintains expert working knowledge of the project management system by participating in continuing education and sharing knowledge through training other team users.

    Facilitation and Delivery of Projects, On-time and In-budget

    Plans, directs, coordinates, monitors, evaluates and reports on activities of designated project tasks to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. Maintains realistic timelines, monitors projects for potential funding limitations, and holds a deep understanding of internal procedures to help team deliver on project goals and objectives. Ensures that all products are well-written, organized, and meet CPW design standards, content requirements and deadlines prior to delivery.

    Team Meetings and Administrative Organization

    Position will craft agendas and facilitate section’s biweekly team meetings. Will work with manager on in-office needs, including assisting with office moves, participating in resume review and hiring interviews for new and open positions, be a designated approver for UKG timekeeping, and work with branch PA on org chart and directory changes.

     

    Other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Seven (7) years of professional experience in project or program management in a marketing, creative, advertising, or state agency capacity.

    OR

    A combination of a degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, business administration or a related field, and professional experience in project or program management in a marketing, creative, advertising, or state agency capacity equal to seven (7) years.

     

    Must include at least two (2) years of demonstrated experience in project software management, e.g., Asana, Monday, Trello or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience managing cross-functional creative or tech projects.

    Substitutions

    Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

    Required Competencies

    + Strong organizational skills, detail orientation and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

    + Extremely high level of attention to detail.

    + Ability to work independently and take initiative by using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify solutions to challenges.

    + Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate through all avenues of communication (e.g., email, phone, website, in-person, etc.).

    + Ability to perform under pressure and manage projects to deadlines and budgets.

    + Ability to problem solve independently and as a team member.

    + Being reliable and punctual.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Current or former State experience relevant to this position.

    + Current or former Colorado Parks & Wildlife work or volunteer experience.

    + Experience managing end-to-end creative or technical projects from strategy development through tactical delivery.

    + Knowledge of parks, wildlife and outdoor recreation topics, issues and interest holders.

    + Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

     

    Conditions of Employment

     

    + State of Colorado residency is required at the time of application.

    + Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license if operating a State vehicle.

    + Occasional same-day and rare overnight travel for meetings.
