    Looking for a Quality Control Specialist to play a pivotal role in strengthening our governance, risk, and control frameworks. In this role, you’ll support credit reviews and control testing to ensure alignment with sound credit principles and regulatory standards. Leveraging your knowledge in commercial credit underwriting, risk management and compliance, you’ll analyze data, validate decisions, and recommend enhancements that mitigate risk and support strategic initiatives.

     

    You’ll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and insolvency professionals, to ensure credit transactions are well-documented and defensible. You’ll also develop tools, training, and communications that address gaps and drive continuous improvement across our control environment.

    What you will do:

    + Conduct credit reviews in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policy & Procedures.

    + Review the monitoring of actions supporting the risk performance of account portfolio; performs financial and risk analysis of customer and account information to confirm actions taken are appropriate and well documented.

    + Advise internal and external stakeholders on complex, high-risk credit risk transactions and mitigation strategies.

    + Confirm that decisions on credit transactions are documented with rationale that can be understood and explained to customers. Identifies and validates terms, conditions and collateral requirements for the transaction decision.

    + Keep abreast of economic and market developments impacting the portfolio and credit risk policies.

    + Maintain and enhance knowledge around lending issues, including loan structure, collateral, foreclosure, bankruptcy and the various regulations that directly impact the Bank.

    + Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders; includes legal and insolvency professionals and other consultants/advisors in the commercial business community.

    + Gather and format data into regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.

    + Develop governance and control-related solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.

    + Perform testing on design of controls as required e.g. observation, inspection, replication, recalculation to ensure risks are identified and controls are effective.

    + Review processes and identifies opportunities for risk mitigation through proposing new controls or revising existing controls.

    + Identify where corrective actions are required and escalates per guidelines; ensures corrective action is taken as necessary.

    + Coordinate and participate in the execution of oversight/governance activities including reporting; assessment of education & training needs, development/delivery of training; development and execution of regulatory administration processes & procedures; management of review/updates to policies, etc.

    + Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

    + Develop tools, checklists and communications to address gaps, issues and new requirements.

    + Execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.

    Designs, builds and operates ETL and pipeline development activities and modeling solutions that facilitate data storage, integration, management, data quality, validation and security, supporting the entire data asset lifecycle. Designs, implements and maintains data flow channels and data processing systems that support the collection, storage, batch and real-time processing, and analysis of information in a scalable, repeatable and secure manner. Manages corporate apps and data in the cloud and technical tasks involved in planning, architecting, migrating, monitoring, and management of enterprise cloud systems.

     

    + Supports the creation and enforcement of policies for effective data management.

    + Formulates techniques for effective data management, quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.

    + Devises and implements efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.

    + Supports the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards. Establish rules and procedures for data sharing.

    + Monitors and analyzes information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.)

    + Ensures digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.

    + Troubleshoots data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications.

    + Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.

    + Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

    + Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

    $63,300.00 - $117,200.00

    Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

     

    BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
