The Food Pantry Lead oversees the daily operations of the food pantry, ensuring an organized, welcoming, and efficient distribution process for all community members. This role provides hands-on leadership to staff, volunteers, and supportive employment workers while maintaining compliance with food safety standards and agency guidelines.
Responsibilities:
+ Coordinate and supervise pantry operations during open hours
+ Oversee inventory management: receiving, storing, tracking, and rotating food supplies
+ Train, schedule, and support volunteers and program participants
+ Ensure a respectful, dignified, and inclusive experience for pantry guests
+ Maintain accurate records, including client sign-in sheets, food distributions, and inventory logs
+ Partner with the Job Coach to support supportive employment workers placed in the pantry
+ Enforce health, safety, and food handling protocols
+ Communicate needs, challenges, and successes with the Mercy Enrichment Coordinator
+ All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ Experienced in working with a food pantry or other related social services preferred
+ Valid NYS Driver's License in Good Standing
+ Experienced in working with people living with mental illness, substance use disorder or other disabilities that require assistance in day to day living preferred
+ Experienced in working with Microsoft Word, familiar with email applications and comfortable using computer programs
+ Physical Requirements: Remains stationary for long periods of time in the office, moves intermittently throughout the office during work hours, reaching overhead, may push or pull 15-20 pounds daily, 20-50 pounds occasionally, repetitive wrist/finger movement, read/write reports and use computer on daily basis, ability to drive agency vehicle
Shift: Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays- 8:30am-4:30pm
Pay: $19.00 an hour
