    Part-Time AM Courier

     

    Days/Hours: M-F 7:00am-12:00 pm/ Not to exceed 25 hours/week

     

    Rate of Pay: Contractual rate

     

    Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a valid NYS driver's license at the time of appointment (Job Description is posted on reverse).

    COURIER

    DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work involving the responsibility for the pick-up and delivery of mail and supplies for the purpose of distribution, both to and from various locations. The employee follows a daily route with occasional deliveries to other designated stops as well as the occasional transport of individuals, when necessary. The work is performed under the direction of higher level staff. Candidate is expected to perform related work, as required.

    TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

    Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of delivery and pick-up services as assigned;

     

    Delivers and receives letters/packages to legal offices, courts (both, Town and County Courts) as well as Town and County buildings and other designated stops;

     

    Picks up documents and materials as designated;

     

    Delivers supplies as directed;

     

    May be expected to perform minor maintenance of the vehicle, such as keeping the interior of the vehicle clean and tire pressure checked.

     

    Maintains necessary records to ensure proper distribution of materials, such as, inventory and/or mileage and maintenance records.

    Working knowledge of the geographical area served;

     

    Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and defensive manner;

     

    Ability to follow an assigned courier route;

     

    Ability to follow simple oral and written directions;

     

    Ability to get along with others;

     

    Dependability;

     

    Alertness;

     

    Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
