Supervisor, EMS Operations-Officer in Charge

The EMS Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality prehospital emergency medical care, and maintaining operational readiness across assigned units. This role provides leadership, guidance, and support to EMS personnel while serving as the primary point of contact for on-scene decision-making, resource allocation, and coordination with allied agencies.
The EMS Operations Supervisor ensures compliance with organizational policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements, while fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability. Acting as a liaison between field staff and leadership, the Officer in Charge addresses operational challenges, manages personnel performance in real-time, and supports ongoing training and development initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Direct supervision of field operations and staff during assigned shifts.
+ Serving as the on-scene command authority for major incidents or complex calls in coordination with EMS operations leadership.
+ Coordinating with dispatch, hospitals, law enforcement, fire services, and other agencies to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency.
+ Monitoring crew performance, documentation, and compliance with clinical protocols.
+ Providing mentorship, coaching, and immediate feedback to staff.
+ Ensuring equipment, vehicles, and supplies are operational and mission-ready.
+ Supporting quality improvement initiatives and contributing to organizational goals.
+ Foster and promote professionalism.
+ Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
+ Liaison to a variety of public safety entities, hospitals, nursing homes and communities.
+ *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
+ *Performs other duties as assigned.
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ 3 year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferred.
+ Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 125 pounds alone or 250 with a partner.
+ Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required.
+ Must hold or be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.
+ Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program.
+ This position requires strong leadership, critical decision-making skills, and the ability to balance patient care priorities with operational and personnel management.
+ The EMS Supervisor serves as both a role model and a frontline leader, dedicated to advancing the mission of providing safe, effective, and compassionate emergency medical services.Licenses and Certifications
+ Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent required Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent required if Paramedic or PHRN.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Driver's License
+ Paramedic OR PHRN (Prehospital RN)
