             Position Summary The Assistant Director for Facilities, under the direction of the Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness, provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Raymond B. Preston Health & Activities Center. This position is responsible for the administration, planning, and management of facility operations, aquatics, and membership services. The Assistant Director directly supervises the Coordinator, Aquatics & Safety, the Graduate Assistant for Facilities, and facility operations student staff, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high-quality recreational environment for all patrons. Primary Duties & Responsibilities + Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for the Coordinator, Aquatics & Safety and the Graduate Assistant for Facilities, ensuring effective management of aquatic programs, facility operations, and departmental risk management initiatives. + Oversee daily operations of the Raymond B. Preston Health & Activities Center and the Bill Powell Natatorium, maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all users. + Administer and monitor budgets for Aquatics, Facilities, and Membership areas, ensuring responsible financial management and alignment with departmental priorities. + Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate facility operations student staff to foster professional growth, accountability, and service excellence. + Manage payroll processes and ensure compliance with university student employment policies and procedures. + Oversee purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of facility equipment and systems; collaborate with Facilities Management and Building Services to sustain a clean, functional, and well-maintained facility. + Direct facility security operations, including access control, key management, and surveillance systems. + Develop and manage the comprehensive facility calendar, setting operating hours, holiday closures, maintenance periods, and special event schedules. + Coordinate facility usage and reservations across all areas of the Preston Center, including departmental, campus, and external events. Partner with the Department of Campus and Community Events for invoicing and logistics for university-sponsored programs, camps, and large-scale rentals. + Implement assessment strategies to evaluate patron satisfaction, facility utilization, and program outcomes, using results to enhance the overall participant experience. Departmental Responsibilities + Demonstrate a commitment to creating a welcoming environment where all members of the WKU Community feel included, welcomed, and supported + Support and align with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Campus Recreation & Wellness. + Serve on departmental committees and work teams to accomplish collaborative goals of the department. + Fulfill night and weekend responsibilities as needed. + Position shall include but is not limited to the duties listed above. May perform other duties assigned to help maintain Campus Recreation & Wellness operations and services. Job Requirements: + Bachelor's Degree. + At least four (4) years of related experience; internships and graduate assistantships may be counted toward this requirement. + At least three (3) years of personnel supervision experience. (student staff, graduate assistant, or full-time personnel supervision is acceptable) + AED, CPR, First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within first three (3) months of employment. Additional Information: Salary Range: $50,000 - $52,000 Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.
