    OVERVIEW

    The Refined Sugar Weigher operates packaging equipment and performs multiple tasks to include filling and weighing products on various lines.

    DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Operates basic packaging equipment such as 25lb, 50lb and 100lb bagging machines

    + Performs basic procedures such as filling coder with ink, changing coder for appropriate abstract and lot numbers

    + Obtains and replaces empty bags as required

    + Threads machines, replace needles; acquires and mounts spools of thread, tape, cord and other material as needed

    + Secures, places and fills bags on filling device on manual, semi-automatic or automatic scales to specified weights within tolerances required

    + Checks bag weights, adding or removing sugar or adjusting scales as required

    + Operates sewing machine and accessory equipment to close filled bags

    + Inspects for defective sewing and remove rejects from line

    + Performs necessary cleaning, oiling and adjustment of scales, sewing machines and associated equipment to maintain operational continuity

    WORK EXPERIENCES

    + Previous work experience in an industrial/manufacturing facility, or related environment

    + Previous experience operating packaging equipment is preferred

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    + High school diploma or GED equivalent required

    ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

    + Ability to read and adjust scales on various types of packaging equipment and related equipment

    + Ability to work rotating shifts, including overtime, weekends and holidays

    + Ability to perform industrial labor tasks such as but not limited to climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing and walking for long periods of time

    HOURLY RATE

    + Starting Rate $26.12

    + Chalmette, Louisiana
