The Director, Medical Communications & Scientific Exchange (MCSE) role will provide strategic leadership, direction and oversight for neuroscience MSL communications, medical communications, and Scientific/Congress communications strategies across the ITCI portfolio. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies for providing quality and compliant data dissemination, medical information services, medical education and medical review of externally facing resources. This position also includes responsibilities in recruiting, hiring, training and providing stretch opportunities for the organization. This is a home office (Titusville, NJ) based position with up to 20% travel. This role will report to the VP, US Medical Affairs ITCI. Key Responsibilities: + Lead the development of high-quality medical content to ensure clear, scientific communication of TA approved medicines, pipeline products and technologies. + Drive the medical communications, publication and Med Info activities across the TA portfolio. + Lead the medical communications team and play an integral role in strategy development, planning, and execution of high-quality scientific publications. + In partnership with the MSL leadership, develop quality content for MSL use in the field. + Lead the medical communications team that provides medical guidance for development and review of externally facing customer materials promotional and medical, or sales training materials. + Oversee and provide strategic guidance to Conference planning and execution. + Oversee all development and provision of medical information to health care providers and consumers, ensuring quality and fair balanced information and compliance with all legal, regulatory, and health care compliance guidelines affecting the practice of medical information delivery. Work closely with colleagues in medical affairs and businesses to ensure dissemination of scientific evidence in an appropriate manner. + Combines the knowledge of science, the pharmaceutical industry, and government regulations to identify opportunities for the Medical Communications group to identify potential opportunities or issues. + Ensures that cutting edge information technology is evaluated and employed when appropriate to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the MCSE group. + Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal (biostats, GMA, R&D, medical directors) partners/authors and external (key opinion leaders, principal investigators) authors. + Drive strategic medical education plan and collaborate with internal partners. + Ensure compliance with internal J&J and ITCI SOPs, and with legal, regulatory, and healthcare guidelines in medical information delivery, external publication, promotion and medical education. + Promote a team environment focused on continuous learning and open exchange. + Manage recruitment, training, and development of staff, as well as budget oversight. Qualifications: + A minimum of a MD/DO/PhD/PharmD or master’s degree with relevant experience. + 7-10 years of healthcare industry experience in pharmaceutical scientific communications or equivalent agency leadership. + 3-5 years of experience in people and vendor management. + Knowledge of the Neuroscience therapeutic area highly preferred. + Expertise in medical communications, writing, scientific research, and digital technologies. + Deep knowledge of Integrated Scientific Communications Strategy, Good Publication Practices (ISMPP), and ACCME guidelines. + Proven presentation skills, business insight, critical thinking, ability to work optimally and lead cross-functional teams. + The candidate must be a highly motivated, organized, self-starter with a demonstrated track record of achievements + Knowledge of US and global healthcare systems, pharmaceutical industry regulations, and medical information processes and technologies. + Proven resource and budget management skills and excellence in external professional relationships. + This position will be in Titusville, NJ and will require up to 20% travel.
