    OVERVIEW

    The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Executive Director, Melrose & The Toro Company Center for Principled Leadership (Program Director I) position within the Opus College of Business.

     

    This role offers ahybrid work schedule, with at least three days a week in the office on the Minneapolis Campus to stay connected with the team and collaborate in person. You’ll also have the flexibility to work remotely up to two days a week, depending on team needs and your schedule. It’s a great balance of in-person teamwork and remote flexibility.

    Salary Range: $85,000 to $91,000

     

    The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The executive director co-leads the Melrose & The Toro Company Center for Principled Leadership alongside the academic director. In collaboration with the academic director, the executive director co-develops the Center’s strategic plan, mission, and strategic priorities. The executive director is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and administering Center programs and processes in several areas: Strategic partnerships/collaborations, educational engagements and events, outreach and promotion, and integration with OCB faculty and academic programs connected to principled leadership. The executive director also implements and manages critical administrative and operational processes related to communication, resource management, and promotion of the Center.

     

    The executive director plays a substantial role in developing productive relationships and effective communications with several critical audiences including for-profit and non-profit strategic business partners; the academic community (local, national and global); University of St. Thomas faculty, staff, students, and alumni; and the Center’s Advisory Board.

     

    The executive director may undertake some travel and will require remote access in order to have the capability to remain in contact with other Center and OCB staff and faculty.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Co-leads the Melrose & The Toro Company Center for Principled Leadership with the academic director. Works collaboratively with the academic director to identify, create and implement strategic plans to enhance Center effectiveness and impact through the creation of educational opportunities and strategic partnerships which promote and support ethical business and principled leadership practices to the academic community, students, and the business public.

    + Leads the Center’s development and management of all programs and processes in support of strategic initiatives globally, nationally, and locally. This includes the annual Melrose Twin Cities Principled Leadership Award; the annual Principled Leadership Research Fellows program; corporate-sponsored events with the Guthrie/MIA/ RJI; virtual national academic series; upcoming meaningful work virtual series; executive producer of the Center’s podcast; and, ongoing leadership and supervision of the Business Ethics Resource Center (BERC) efforts including financial partnership development; content and website development/management; supervision of internal academic contractor and external contractors; budget management and marketing/PR efforts.

    + Serves as a liaison and strategic partner to internal university stakeholders and to external stakeholders (local, national and global) to develop and/or support academic and/or business engagements that align with the Center’s strategic plan, mission and priorities. Additionally, serve as a co-liaison with the academic director to the Center’s endowment funders (Hoffman Family Foundation and The Toro Company) to maintain consistent communication and engagement with the Center in academia and the business public.

    + Develops and manages Center administration and operations including annual financial planning and budgets, annual reporting, OCB/university reporting requirements, and other administrative tasks as defined on an as-needed basis.

    + Serves as a supportive asset where needed for OCB on an as-needed basis in alignment with the Center strategic plan, mission and priorities including managing the reporting for AASCB societal impact, OCB strategic planning committee member, and UNPRME report information integrator and author.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor’s degree in business administration, the humanities, social sciences, or a related field

    + Five years of professional program administration experience preferably related to business ethics and/or corporate social responsibility

    + This position requires a DMV background check

     

    An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
