The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and performance of assigned hospital and/or clinic laboratory locations within their region. This role ensures the consistent delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic services while maintaining full compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards. The Manager supports the Regional Director of Laboratory Services by implementing system and regional goals at the site level, optimizing local workflows, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Manager provides direct leadership to laboratory staff, including technologists, technicians, and support personnel. Responsibilities include scheduling and workforce management, budget oversight, staff competency development, and ongoing regulatory readiness. The Manager serves as a liaison between laboratory teams and physicians, pathologists, nurses, and other clinical colleagues, ensuring effective communication and coordination to support patient-centered care.

This role also plays a critical part in employee engagement and development by mentoring staff, facilitating continuing education, and promoting professional growth opportunities. The Manager actively models CentraCare’s mission, values, and high reliability practices in daily operations, ensuring that patients of all ages are served with safety, compassion, and excellence. Schedule

+ Full-time | 80 hours per two weeks | Onsite

+ Days | Monday-Friday | Typical hours 8am-4:30pm with flexibility as needed.

Pay and Benefits

+ Starting pay begins at $90,735.89 per year and increases with experience

+ Salary range: $90,735.89- $136,125.75 per year

+ Salary range is based on a 1.0 FTE, reduced FTE will result in a prorated offer rate

Qualifications

+ Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in Medical Technology (MT) or Clinical/ Medical Laboratory Science (CLS/MLS) with MLS (American Society for Clinical Pathology – ASCP) certification required.

+ ASCP-BOC certified within 6 months with first exam completed within 3 months of hire, with certification verified within six weeks of exam.

+ 5 years' experience as a medical laboratory scientist, with 2 years of management/leadership experience preferred.

+ A valid Minnesota driver’s license, a driving record in good standing, and the minimum amount of insurance liability coverage may be required.
