    Job Description

    The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (ISSM) is responsible for ensuring compliance with Air Force cybersecurity standards and maintaining system security throughout its lifecycle. This role involves completing and maintaining required certifications, keeping all cybersecurity documentation current, and supporting authorization to operate and approval to connect processes. The ISSM develops and monitors an Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) strategy, evaluates configuration changes for security impact, and ensures timely reporting of events that affect system authorization or security posture. They assess the quality of security controls against performance indicators and implement corrective actions as needed. The position requires coordination with program managers, authorizing officials, and other stakeholders to maintain robust cybersecurity measures. Additionally, the ISSM ensures all privileged users and ISSOs receive proper training and certifications in accordance with Air Force and DoD directives. The role also oversees proper acquisition, operation, maintenance, and disposal of Air Force IT systems to meet regulatory requirements.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - Master’s/Doctorate + 10 years (5 in DoD) OR

    Bachelor’s + 12 years (5 in DoD) OR

    15 years directly related experience (8 in DoD) with required certifications.

     

    - Active Secret Clearance.

     

    - Highly skilled in technical discipline with ability to work independently and lead junior staff; advanced knowledge of standards, procedures, and practices.

     

    - Experience in access control, configuration management, system protection, contingency planning, incident handling, integrity, security/privacy training, and secure software development.

     

    - Familiarity with DoDI 8500.01, AFI 17-130 series; automated testing tools (Fortify, Checkmarx, SonarQube, AppScan); and DoD tracking systems (Jira, HP ALM, eMASS).

     

    - Skilled in conducting ISCM for vulnerability and threat awareness to support risk management decisions.

     

    - Must meet IAM Level III requirements with one of the following certifications: ISACA CISM, (ISC)² CISSP, or GIAC GSLC. - Certified SCRUM Master

    - Other Agile Certifications
