    Job Description

    $4,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible new part-time and full-time employees joining UW Medicine

     

    The **UW Medical Center-Montlake Pharmacy Department** has an outstanding opportunity for an **Outpatient Pharmacy Technician 2 - South Lake Union.**

    WORK SCHEDULE

    • Full-Time / 40 hours per week

    • Day Shift

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

    + Perform specialized, technical pharmacy tasks within the UWMC clinics and outpatient pharmacy areas

    + Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, independently perform specialized technical pharmaceutical functions such as serving as a liaison to clinic personnel and maintaining a controlled substances area

    + Act as a resource for a specific medication distribution system and/or serve as a liaison for an assigned unit

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Compound and prepare medications from a physician order which may include compounded sterile products, investigational drugs, hazardous medications and extemporaneously prepared doses.

    + Troubleshoot technical questions related to specialized area. Serve as a resource to nursing, pharmacy and medical staff for policies and procedures. Facilitate maintaining positive rapport between pharmacy and clinic staff.

    + Perform specific order entry functions including mail order prescriptions as assigned.

    + Maintain assigned PYXIS stations, coordinating the refills and monitoring for discrepancies and ensuring medications are in-date. Assist in educating nursing staff regarding PYXIS utilization.

    + Prepare and monitor medications for Roosevelt Day Surgery area. Activities include, set-up of anesthesia and case trays, controlled substance monitoring and preparation of pre-op orders.

    + Maintain required controlled substances documentation and research any identified discrepancies.

    + Maintain adequate inventory in assigned pharmacy area. Place medication and supply orders with wholesaler. Prepare controlled substance orders for pharmacy purchasing. Coordinate the movement of stock items when drugs are in short supply. Perform receiving functions if required. Keep work area neat, clean and orderly.

    + Coordinate prescription processing for specific dated orders via daily review of order files.

    + Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician I.

    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Six (6) months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician 1 or equivalent education/experience

    LEGAL REQUIREMENT

    State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $64,968.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $95,796.00 annual

    Other Compensation:

    $4,000 Sign-On Bonus
