All while understanding that **together** we are even better. **Schedule:** Full Time **Shift** : Night (6pm-6am) _The community you'll be caring for: Winter Park Campus_ Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute The role you'll contribute: The Security Shift Supervisor works under the supervision of the Department's chain of command. Performs security service duties through professional and positive interaction with the public, patients, employees and administrators. Responds to a variety of calls; provides initial direction and support as needed in emergency and non-emergency situations. Investigates and documents safety hazards, incidents and criminal activities. Responsible for patrol of designated areas to ensure the protection of the public, patients, employees and property of AdventHealth. Is accountable and under the supervision of the Security Department's chain of command for initiative, judgment and general competence exhibited in the performance of assignments, calls for service, and day-to-day general duties. Supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned shifts and provides training and direction to subordinates. Supervises personnel scheduling and assignments of employees assigned. Inspects the team to ensure they are wearing their uniforms properly and have all assigned equipment ready for duty at the beginning of their shifts. Briefs the team at the beginning of their shift to update them on developments and security related concerns. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Position requires psychological and physical fitness screenings if applicable to facility. The value you'll bring to the team: Proactively patrols assigned areas and performs all security related tasks, ensuring life safety standards are maintained. Investigates suspicious activity or persons. Investigates and/or reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to Security Operations Center and keeps Supervisor apprised of unusual activities and events. Responds to events of varying degrees of vulnerability, including high vulnerability such as life-threatening events, natural disasters Participates in activities not directly related to Security operations as approved by Security Management. These may include transport and release of bodies from the morgue; patient escort; elevator recall checks; monthly fire extinguisher, panic alarm and intercom checks; and special event setups Acknowledges and responds appropriately to emergency, non-emergency and alarm calls as assigned. Uses good judgment to safely determine the alarm cause, takes appropriate action and/or provides the proper assistance and direction in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Administers initial first aid as appropriate and to the level of training attained Learns applicable systems and responds to fire alarms at facilities during actual alarms and drills. Conducts helicopter fire prevention assessment and provides emergency response to helicopter fires. Maintains appropriate communication with Supervisors, Security Officers and Security Operations Center to report crimes, incidents and safety related irregularities Intercedes in disputes between individuals by using verbal de-escalation techniques and skills to diffuse potentially violent patient, employee, or visitor situations. Physically manages combative, violent persons without hesitation using techniques taught in the required annual aggression management training. Following use of force protocol of the facility Patrols assigned areas to provide security presence; unlocks buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with Hospital policies; properly utilizes and maintains all issued and operated equipment. Observes activity and traffic in assigned area to enforce Hospital rules/regulations; alerts visitors of infractions. Assists individuals on property needing directions or information. Escorts people/property to desired destination when safety of property or individuals is a concern Monitors vehicle and pedestrian traffic on or in AdventHealth properties. Interviews and investigates individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities. Detains unauthorized individuals as defined by policy or state law and releases them to the proper authorities Investigates and documents, through both written and electronic format as required, to report safety hazards, incidents and criminal activities to Security Administration, law enforcement and other appropriate agencies as determined by AdventHealth, department policy, or state law. Conducts annual security assessments (as assigned) of individual hospital properties to determine possible security risks. Responds quickly and documents employee, patient, visitor and Security Officer concerns, problems and complaints. Supervises day-to-day operations as shift supervisor, conducting briefings and other supervisory functions. Ensures proper staffing and area coverage at all times; reviews department reports and provides direction for corrections. Inspects the team to ensure they are wearing their uniforms properly and have all assigned equipment ready for duty at the beginning of their shifts. Oversees training of new Officers and provides on-going training for all Officers. Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with those his/her supervision while acting as a role model to further the mission of AdventHealth. Documents subordinates' work performance and provides positive direction and corrective action as needed Reviews the performance of Security Officers and Assistant Supervisors. Performs employee evaluations, takes corrective action, and disciplines security staff as needed. Takes a lead role in the coordination and security of special events, programs and large gatherings as requested May float to various campuses to provide security support Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed** **: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to read accurately and comprehend, write clearly, and understand in a manner to effectively complete legal reports, narratives, and follow simple directions. Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, penal codes, vehicular codes, radio codes, reports, memos, communications, policies, and other required written materials. Ability to actively listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and communication devices and perform all aspects of the job safely without imposing risk to self and/or others Computer literacy with ability to use basic hospital/security applications and information management systems Good critical thinking skills, and ability to set and quickly reset priorities Ability to work and train in an environment with occurring periods of crisis and stress Ability to recognize faces Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors and/or employees Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment; ability to work closely with medical and nursing staff to resolve patient-related issues Ability to identify recurring security operation issues, collaborate with leadership to problem solve and develop solutions, and work with the Security Management team on implementation of change Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to diplomatically handle stressful situations Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Windows, Word and Excel KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED: Ability to read accurately and comprehend, write clearly, and understand in a manner to effectively complete legal reports, narratives, and follow simple directions.
