The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for mechanical design engineers ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world – the GE9X – as we progress toward entry into service on Boeing’s 777X aircraft. Within GE9X Design Engineering, the HPC Rotor Design Engineer will support efforts focused on product delivery, cost, weight, and entry into service preparations. At this key pre-EIS phase of the GE9X program, it is critical that the team is prepared to identify and execute solutions within the high pressure compressor (HPC). In this role, you will take charge recognizing and completing product weight and cost improvements, as well as delivery and manufacturing support projects through implementation. It is through your efforts that the GE9X program will be well positioned for a successful entry into service. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities + Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products + Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills. + Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. + May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters. + A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills. Required Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college + 1-year related engineering experience + Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Desired Characteristics + Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college. + Experience in hardware/rotating parts design engineering role including some exposure to fielded product support. + Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic. + Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings. + Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components. + Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. + Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. + Established project management skills. _This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
