Job Description: Caterpillar has an exciting leadership opportunity for the Technical Director for Electrification Site Simulation in our Resource Industries Electrification division (RIE). This division is responsible for creating and deploying site level solutions for electrified mine sites through collaboration with enterprises business partners. The RIE division is focused on developing energy transfer solutions which create customer value and positions Caterpillar to be the preferred solution provider. This Technical Director will lead the development of software tools to simulate site-level operations at mine and quarry sites to evaluate electrified fleet alternatives including machines, charging infrastructure, and power management. This leader is an expert in mining operations and simulation/optimization techniques to impact engineering development and provide customer solutions. What you will do (Responsibilities): + Create vision for simulation and optimization software to support engineering and customer use-cases. + Define requirements, priorities, and timelines for the software features, including the user interface, solver, and optimization capabilities. + Evaluate/validate features and usefulness of the user interface. + Support software commercialization efforts including licensing and user management. + Collaborate with 3rd parties to expand simulator functionality. + Coordinate 30 development resources among multiple internal providers in worldwide locations. + Lead and manage performance of key resources. + Define/manage budget for the development team. + Act as primary spokesperson for the software, including development of documentation and training as well as presentation materials to demonstrate the capability. What you will have (Skills/Knowledge): + Working knowledge of mine-site operations. + Familiarity with fleet management systems. + Simulation experience, especially discrete event simulation applied to mine site operations. + Design exploration and optimization understanding. + Machine performance experience, especially diesel electric, battery electric, and hybrid powertrain understanding. + Working knowledge of mining customer business and economic trade-offs. + Working knowledge of the Caterpillar product line. + Ability to communicate effectively and to influence others. + Sound commercial judgement, analytical skills, and communication skills. + Skills in negotiation, building consensus, and achieving compromise. Degree Requirement: + Required Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Mining Engineering or equivalent experience. Summary Pay Range: $185,400.00 - $278,160.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
