Description Accounting Director (2025-177) The American Arbitration Association (AAA) is seeking an experienced and strategic Accounting Director to lead and evolve key financial functions. This role oversees general accounting operations, compliance, audits, payroll accounting, and internal controls in accordance with U.S. GAAP. As a senior member of the Finance team, the Accounting Director will support modernization and efficiency efforts through the adoption of automation and AI tools, while leading teams in delivering timely, accurate financial information and upholding fiscal integrity. Key responsibilities include: + Directing accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, and statutory reporting. + Leading fiscal close processes and enhancing month-end close timelines and accuracy. + Administering internal controls and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards. + Supervising and mentoring accounting teams to promote high performance and professional development. + Overseeing external and internal audit processes and managing related documentation. + Driving continuous improvement and digital transformation efforts in accounting processes and systems. + Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, financial analytics, and executive reporting. + Partnering cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and IT to integrate systems and streamline workflows. Work Environment This position offers a hybrid work arrangement; candidates must reside at a U.S. location within 125 miles of their assigned office location. Compensation will be determined based on geographic location. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive. Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. + 7–9 years of progressive accounting experience, including both public accounting and industry. + 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience. + Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO). + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Financials). + Experience with payroll processes, tax compliance, and financial analytics. + Familiarity with digital transformation tools, automation, and AI-driven financial technologies. + Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage change effectively.
