The Security Guard ensures the safety and security of the Perpich Center for Arts Education by patrolling buildings and grounds, monitoring surveillance systems, regulating access, and responding to emergencies. This position investigates security breaches and incidents, assists with building evacuations, provides information on safety procedures, and escorts students or visitors as needed. The Security Guard also prepares detailed incident reports and maintains accurate security logs to support a safe and secure campus environment.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Knowledge of security procedures, safety precautions, and emergency response practices.
+ Strong communication and writing skills to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
+ Ability to enforce regulations fairly and handle conflicts or disputes effectively.
+ Public relations and interpersonal skills to work respectfully with students, staff, visitors, and the public.
+ Ability to follow oral and written instructions and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
+ Basic computer proficiency for logging and reporting duties.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Security experience working with high school aged students, preferably in a residential setting (dormitory).
+ Experience with security equipment and surveillance systems.
+ Candidates will have a variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
+ CPR Certification
Physical Requirements
Possess the physical ability sufficient to perform the following tasks:
+ Maintain a stationary position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) while carrying out job duties.
+ Ability to position self to move to a significant degree over extended distances, negotiate stairs, ladders and walkways as they pertain to assigned duties.
+ React quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
+ Must be able to wear and operate a radio.
