    The Opportunity:

CACI is looking for a **Space Vehicle and Robotics Systems Modeling and Simulation Engineer** to work with NASA's Generic Robotics On-Orbit Trainer (GROOT) spacecraft simulation in support of our Nation’s space exploration initiative at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This simulation is also used for on-orbit training for the United States Space Force (USSF). Candidates should have great interest in spacecraft vehicles and systems, enjoy working with software, and most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation’s exploration of space.

This work involves software development, math model development, simulation integration, and simulation development on Linux PC platforms using the Trick© Simulation Environment and Development Toolkit. Individual will develop and integrate math models with Trick-based simulations developed at NASA in support of the on-orbit training for the USSF. The individual will develop high-fidelity software simulations and math models for generic spacecraft that can be customized for specific spacecraft designs. The ideal candidate has spacecraft domain experience in one or more of the following areas: avionics command and data handling, robotics, electrical power, environmental control and life support, fluids and thermal, orbital dynamics, robotic dynamics, orbital dynamics, Guidance, Navigation, and Controls.

The engineer in this role will identify and implement improvements to math models and simulation scenarios, analyze simulation data to evaluate system characteristics and performance, and support continual enhancements to the simulation architecture.

The engineer will support simulation and model validation and software verification.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy with strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, and be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

    Responsibilities:

+ Develop requirements for space vehicle system and subsystem simulation math models.

+ Develop simulation architecture and design requirements.

+ Design and develop math models for spacecraft systems and subsystems including hardware and software.

+ Develop simulation scenarios to test nominal and off-nominal spacecraft operations.

+ Develop software for generic spacecraft and robotic systems.

+ Perform analysis on simulation data to investigate spacecraft system performance.

+ Present analysis results and their impact on spacecraft performance, vehicle design and mission design to customers

    Qualifications:

    _Required:_

+ U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG Facilities.

+ B.S. in Aerospace or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines with experience in software development, including overall project design, programming, testing, verification, and documentation.

+ Experience working with software simulation, math model development, and real time software applications.

+ Experience with one or more spacecraft domain including avionics command and data handling, robotics, electrical power, environmental control and life support, fluids and thermal, orbital dynamics, robotic dynamics, guidance, navigation, and controls, and mechanical, dynamics and control.

+ Experience with C/C++ and Python in a Linux environment.

+ Experience with software version control tools such as git.

+ Experience with Continuous Integration tools and methods.
