About the Role:
The Crane Mechanic specializing in aerials, hydraulics, and 12-volt electrical systems plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of cranes used in durable goods manufacturing. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical and electrical components to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. The mechanic will work closely with production teams to troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and implement upgrades or modifications as needed. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to protect both personnel and equipment. Ultimately, this role supports continuous manufacturing operations by maintaining crane functionality and reliability at the highest standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in cranes or heavy machinery, with a focus on aerial systems, hydraulics, and 12-volt electrical systems.
+ Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical components relevant to crane operation.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
+ Valid driver’s license and ability to work safely at heights and in various manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Technical certification or vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
+ Experience working in durable goods manufacturing or a related industrial setting.
+ Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
+ OSHA or other relevant safety certifications.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
+ Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics on aerial crane systems, hydraulic components, and 12-volt electrical circuits to identify malfunctions or wear.
+ Execute repairs and replacements of mechanical parts, hydraulic lines, pumps, valves, and electrical wiring to restore equipment to optimal working condition.
+ Conduct routine preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
+ Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot operational issues and recommend improvements or retrofits.
+ Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support operational transparency and planning.

The required skills in hydraulics, aerial systems, and 12-volt electrical work are applied daily to diagnose and repair complex crane components, ensuring operational safety and efficiency. Mechanical aptitude allows the mechanic to disassemble and reassemble parts accurately while adhering to technical specifications.
