As a Phlebotomy Tech II, you'll perform advanced blood collection procedures, handles complex specimens, and may supervise or train other phlebotomy staff while ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient care.     What You'll Do

    + Performs advanced or specialized blood collection procedures, including difficult draws

    + Handles and processes complex or high-risk specimens accurately

    + Supervises, trains, or mentors Phlebotomy Tech I staff

    + Ensures compliance with safety, infection control, and quality standards

    + Verifies patient identification and maintains accurate documentation

    + Assists with problem-solving in specimen collection or handling issues

    + Maintains and monitors phlebotomy equipment and supplies for proper functioning

     

    What We're Looking For

     

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

    + Experience: One year of relevant phlebotomy experience, preferred.

    + Licensure/Certification: ASCP, ASPT, AMT or NHA (New hire and/or new phlebotomist must obtain certification within 6 months of hire), required.

    + Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.
