    Director, Field** **Operations** **Engineering and Programs** **–** **Modernization

     

    The Director of Modernization Field Engineering serves as a strategic and operational leader, driving excellence in field engineering support, process efficiency, and product performance across the modernization portfolio. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies and programs that improve field productivity, enhance safety outcomes, and ensure product reliability. Acting as a key interface between field operations, engineering, suppliers, and product development teams, the Director ensures alignment and collaboration to deliver best-in-class modernization solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Field Strategy & Support:**

    + Defines & leads field engineering strategy for modernization product transformation.

    + Provide expert guidance and resolution support for complex field issues, including field turnbacks and supplier chargebacks.

    + Champions continuous improvement throughpartnership with regional field teams to ensure consistent execution and feedback loops.

    + Monitor KPIs, generate reports, and present program status to senior leadership and stakeholders.

    + Lead end-to-end planning and execution of modernization programs across multiple operating areas and territories.

    + **Process Optimization:**

    + Own and evolve the field labor estimate process, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and alignment with operational goals.

    + Owns strategy to develop and implement best practices for field engineering workflows and documentation.

    + **Product & Supplier Collaboration:**

    + Collaborate with product engineering and supplier quality teams to address recurring field issues and drive corrective actions.

    + Lead initiatives to reduce supplier chargebacks through root cause analysis and proactive engagement.

    + **EH&S Solutions:**

    + Champion Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) engineering solutions that improve equipment safety and compliance in the field.

    + Partner with EH&S teams to integrate safety enhancements into product design and field procedures.

    + **Leadership & Team Development:**

    + Serve as an influential leader for US and CanadaModernization group by fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.

    + **Cross-Functional Engagement:**

    + Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional initiatives involving product development, operations, and customer experience.

    + Represent field engineering in strategic planning and executive reviews.

    Qualifications:

    + High School degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    + 10+ years of experience infield operations, field engineering, product support, or technical operations, preferably in the elevator industry.

    + Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and driving cross-functional initiatives.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

    + Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

    + Proficient in project management tools

    + Deep understanding of field operations, product lifecycle, and supplier management.

    + Ability to travel as needed to support field operations and project execution.

    Preferred Skills:

    + Experience working with OEMs and third-party modernization suppliers.

    + Familiarity with vertical transportation regulations (e.g., ASME A17.1).

    + Familiarity with EH&S standards and field safety protocols.

    + Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification.
