Primary Purpose PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION The Meter Helper assists and/or performs (under supervision) installations, testing, reconnections, disconnections, and/or maintenance on all types of meters and metering devices. Basic duties include preparing and handling metering devices including cleaning, disposal, labeling, and completing associated documents. Duties include routine physical activities associated with installation, removal and general handling of meters & associated devices, tools, and supplies, loading/unloading of equipment racks, stocking, filling, and delivery of metering equipment orders. Primary Duties PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES + Assists higher grade personnel with repair, maintenance, testing, reconnecting, disconnecting, installation and removal of metering devices. + Loads/unloads meters on racks associated with the time run of meters. + Assist higher grade personnel with the retiring of meters making them inoperable. + Operates various tow motors, pallet jacks or similar material handling devices. + Assist higher grade personnel with reading of cut-off meters and records meter number and readings in the MIDS systems. + Under supervision used various computer hardware, and software to record meter data and/or work activities. + Assist in the preparation and completion of various logs, test documents, timesheets, and other required documents. + Assist higher grade personnel preparing, delivering, and/or receiving materials from other departments, vendors, or customers. + Helps customers and other employees. + Maintains equipment stock in Pepco vehicles and/or Pepco facilities. + Operates and maintains various hand tools, power tools and other tools as required. + Use company Radio (mobile & portable). + Perform basic preventative maintenance on a vehicle when being refueled. + Ability to utilize a mobile system computer device and other related equipment in the field. Job Scope JOB SCOPE Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Possess basic knowledge of electrical measuring instruments (VOM, Digital Multi-meter). + Possess basic knowledge of electrical theory (current, volts, and watts). + Perform work on energized circuits from 120 VAC to 250 VAC daily. + Possess thorough knowledge and ability to apply mathematical formulas applicable to determining the accuracy of a meter. + Ability to read, understand and follow verbal or written instructions/work assignments. + Must be able to use and maintain Personnel Protective Equipment in accordance with PEPCO Safety manual and/or other Authorities. + Complete company mandated safety requirements. + Possess a valid Governmental/Jurisdictional driver's license.
