    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Program Chair for General Education provides academic and administrative leadership for the General Education program.

     

    This role is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the curriculum, managing program faculty, and supporting student success.

     

    The Program Chair works to foster an inclusive and innovative learning environment, with a strong focus on online education.

     

    This is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting directly to the VP of Academic Operations of Research College of Nursing.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Lead curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement initiatives.

    1. Lead ongoing assessment of general education outcomes and analyze data to drive continuous improvement.

    1. Ensure all courses meet accreditation standards and align with institutional goals.

    1. Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors and third-party providers.

    1. Collaborate with instructional design teams to develop engaging online course content.

    1. Recruit, interview, hire, and manage all full-time and adjunct faculty.

    1. Manage adjunct contracts, including renewals and terminations.

    1. Conduct faculty performance evaluations, provide professional development, and manage workload assignments, course schedules, and faculty schedules.

    1. Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students and faculty.

    1. Resolve faculty, student, and course-related issues.

    1. Monitor student progression and collaborate with the Student Success Center in programs like Early Alert to support student needs.

    1. Prepare and submit reports on program enrollment, student success, and faculty performance.

    1. Ensures that the number, utilization, and credentials of arts and science faculty are sufficient to achieve the academic goals and outcomes.

    1. Ensures the availability of adequate resources to orient and mentor faculty (full and part-time) in their areas of responsibility.

    1. Ensures the appropriate application of student policies and the correct implementation of related procedures by faculty, and staff.

    1. Ensures that orientation to technology is provided and technological support is available to students.

    1. Provides leadership to ensure that fiscal, physical, technological, and learning resources are sufficient to meet the needs of the faculty and students engaged in alternative methods of delivery.

    What qualifications you will need:

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Master’s Degree in education or relevant field; an earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.

    1. Minimum of 1 years of experience in higher education administration, with a focus on online learning preferred.

    1. Familiarity with online course quality assurance standards.

    1. Demonstrated experience in hiring, supervising, and managing both full-time and adjunct faculty.

    1. Proven ability to lead curriculum development and assessment.

    1. Experience with academic technology and learning management systems (LMS).

    1. Strong leadership and communication skills.

    1. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders.

    1. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

    1. Commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence.
