    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Central Sterile Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and assisting in daily evaluation of sterile processing services.

    What you will do in this role:

    + Assign and evaluate the daily activities of Sterile Processing team.

    + Coordinate equipment and supply needs.

    + Coordinate staff development and orientation activities.

    + Facilitate instrumentation and equipment needs for the daily OR schedule/patient care units and communicate effectively with other areas in the department and the hospital to ensure continuity of care.

    + Interact with physicians and staff in a positive manner that encourages a team approach.

    + Investigate patient, interdepartmental, and departmental problems that arise, evaluating the impact on the department and patient care. Keep the department director informed of problems and problem-solving activities in a timely manner. Seek solutions utilizing all available resources.

    + Assist in the implementation and enforcement of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge related to policies and procedures.

    + Provide direct SP care activities based on the needs of the department.

    + Work closely with the director in the establishment of new departmental policies and procedures. Assist in the implementation of JCAHO and other standards.

    + Evaluate and recommend new equipment and or supplies based on department need.

    + Ensure environmental cleanliness and organization of the department through the delegation of special assignments and duties.

    + Complete the staff work and call schedules.

    + Attend meetings as assigned.

    + Timely preparation of any report or special project as requested by the director.

    + Participate in and assist with the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program for the department.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Graduate of RN or Surgical Technology Program required.

    + 3 years of perioperative or related experience required.

    + Previous management experience preferred.

    + Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST) required within 1 year of hire.
