Job Description
The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. TLC licenses and regulates over 130,000 vehicles and more than 175,000 drivers, making it the most active taxi and limousine regulatory agency in the United States. Aside from vehicles and drivers, TLC also regulates taxicab agents and for-hire vehicle bases, including popular app-based transportation services. The TLC plays a pivotal role in furthering public safety within New York City and is a lead agency in a citywide effort to reduce traffic-related injuries. One of the largest components of TLC’s operations is the enforcement of agency and administrative code regulations.
The Prosecution Division investigates and prosecutes all summonses issued by TLC which amounts to over 100,000 summonses each year. Under the leadership of the Associate Commissioner and Managing Attorney for Prosecution, and the direct supervision of the Senior Supervising Attorney, the Supervising Prosecuting Attorney will oversee the filing and prosecution of TLC petitions involving serious misconduct such as physical force and harassment complaints, serious crashes, failed drug tests, and criminal arrests and convictions for prosecution at the OATH Trials Division. The selected candidate will also be charged with supervising a Prosecuting Attorney assigned to the unit and ensuring that the attorney is trained and equipped to prepare TLC petitions and appear at the OATH Trials Division to represent the TLC.
