    Purpose of Role

     

    This role is to provide support to manufacturing operations team(s) of the site. This role will perform in the areas of Bulk Unloading (receiving), Mill Room (batching), Meat Room, packaging (large/small and Palletizer), Forklift-Warehouse, Quality Tech and Sanitation. The position supports the process of manufacturing of high quality pet food that meets or exceeds all specifications set by the company and schedule required by business needs. This role will cover vacation, sick time and any other need for coverage that may arise on or across multiple teams. Expectation of participation in Continuous Improvements groups, coordination and training associates, assessing equipment operating reliability and performing routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting, and other special assignments as requested by the line manager and site leadership.

    Principal Accountabilities

    + Load trailers according to loading specifications and in a manner which delivers product on time and complete as measured by our customers and other receiving destinations.

    + Receive, unload, inspect all in-bound shipments (finished good, materials and ingredients) using safe procedures while maintaining the quality of all products and using accurate inventory management procedures. Complete bin inspections and measurements.

    + Performs QC tasks such as metal checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, etc.

    + Maintains accurate records of quality checks, productions numbers and waste performance.

    + Perform all shift support documentation in a quality manner.

    + Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories

    + You must monitor activities on the production lines, immediately reporting downtimes to maintenance or team lead or line supervisor when downtime cannot be corrected by the operator.

    + You must be cross-trained on large and small pack lines and the palletizer. You need to maintain a functional knowledge of all equipment in the packaging department.

    + Work with sanitation manager to develop and improve Master Sanitation Schedule – maintain proper GMP’s for site.

    + Constant evaluation of appearance, chemical, physical and sanitary integrity of all products produced at the facility

    + Routine evaluation of packaging integrity and compliance to regulatory guidelines

    + Isolation, segregation and re-evaluation of materials deemed to be non-compliant with regard to established specification

    + Both routine and non-routine collection of test data, sending and receiving analytical samples and results as well as process problem solving and troubleshooting

    Key Responsibilities:

    + You must meet and exceed the 8 -hour shift productivity goal of the plant

    + You must participate in a safety conscious effort to rotate team members through highly repetitive assignments.

    + You must monitor activities on the production lines, immediately reporting downtimes to maintenance or team lead or line supervisor when downtime cannot be corrected by the operator.

    + You are responsible for insuring all finished goods meet finish product specification.

    + You must facilitate good communication and planning to ensure that changeovers are done timely and efficiently.

    + You must be certified to operate a fork truck during routine job duties.

    + You must identify and stage necessary packing supplies for production runs

    + You are responsible for routine cleaning and minor adjustment of packing equipment.

    + You must participate in packing supply inventories and help reconcile discrepancies.

    + You must be able to setup and change-over all packing equipment.

    + You will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager. Check the daily line-up before each shift.

    + You must develop and maintain excellent bin management skills, including monitoring that pet-food is on the appropriate system and delivered to the appropriate packaging line without delay or hindrance to the packaging operation.

    + Properly monitor and document down time by cause.

    + Ensure production report accuracy, including neat and timely completion of daily production reporting requirements.

    + Report all safety near misses or accidents to the shift supervisor.

    + Perform in-line quality checks and quality testing.

    + Position is designed as a monitoring, auditing and inspecting position that ensures compliance to company, regulatory and industry established specifications and procedures.

    + Constant evaluation of appearance, chemical, physical and sanitary integrity of all products produced and received at the facility

    + Both routine and non-routine collection of test data, sending and receiving analytical samples and results as well as process problem solving and troubleshooting

    + Must honestly, neatly and completely document their observations so informed decisions regarding quality can be made

    + May have to perform special non-routine tasks associated with corporate requests, projects and tests

    + Support plant management in a like manner regarding non-routine assignments such as supply inventory and "hold" re-evaluations

    + Keep laboratory equipment clean and in proper working order unless repairs are beyond their capacity

    + Perform accurate inventory transactions into SAP, Red Prairie, or other warehousing systems. Tag pallets from the palletizer and record production, organize warehouse and all warehouse supplies and materials, supply materials to packaging lines, supply and service palletizer equipment.

    + Must know the product "Hold" criteria of all applicable areas

    + Must follow Lock out Tag out procedures.

    + General sanitation and cleaning and maintaining proper GMP's for site

    + Ability to work under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, dust, dirt, chemicals and /or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting, stooping and standing.

    + Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

    + Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.

    + Forklift certified or the ability to certify, operate aerial lift.

    + Interpersonal skills to work in a team environment through effective teamwork, self-management with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Be 18 years or older

     

    High School diploma, GED or equivalent education

     

    Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules

     

    Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines

    2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline

     

    Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email.

     

    Knowledge of inventory control principles.

     

    SAP knowledge

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    Salary Range $ - $ USD

     

    Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
