             Job Description The Product Test Engineer is responsible for the quality of new products under development. This role confirms product quality through testing and specification-setting activities to meet customer requirements and maintain high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Key Accountabilities Confirm the quality of new products and components under development using the following methods: + Product benchmarking against competitors and market sensing + Prototype confirmation testing + Target setting using DA’s and FTA + Ensuring guidelines, standards, and regulations are met + Confirming customer requirements and product quality with prototypes and pre-production samples + Key data collection using tools such as National Instruments, Instron, Hioki, etc. + (50% of time) Work in small project teams reporting to the Test Project Leader to meet development targets and schedules by: + Achieving testing milestones and deadlines + Coordinating resource needs with the supervisor + Communicating project status + Participating in or leading project meetings, discussions, and development events + (30% of time) Generate and develop new ideas to improve competitiveness through: + Competitor research + Creation of new product features and technologies + (10% of time) Participate in market quality improvement themes by: + Utilizing problem-solving methods to analyze root causes + Developing and implementing countermeasure specifications as necessary + Supporting recurrence prevention when appropriate + (10% of time) Qualifications, Experience & Skills Minimum Educational Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field Minimum Experience: + 0 to 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in Power Products or Powersports Job-Specific Skills: + Strong ability to transition/adapt to developing various CBU platforms + Effective communication with staff and management + Competent in test cell/bench concept and fabrication methods + Ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality + Ability to complete test requirements and submit them for review + Ability to create factory control point documents + Competent in failure mode analysis + Proficient in DiAdem data analysis software or similar + Skilled in various data logging hardware/software (Hioki, National Instruments) + Strong analytical, problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and prioritization skills + Capable of creating research/test reports + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint + Competent in CAD software for designing test benches and fixtures + Skilled in fabrication methods such as milling, lathing, welding, waterjet cutting, drilling, sanding, etc. Key Performance Indicators + Project completion aligned with quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) targets + Accuracy and reliability of test results + Targets are set according to internal standards and are dependable + Number of start-up QICs for new products + Product acceptance in the market (consumer reports, online reviews, dealer surveys) Skills Summary Core Skills: + Test equipment + Test engineering + Test procedures and plans + Mechanical and electrical systems + Data acquisition and analysis + Prototypes + Test benches Additional Skills & Qualifications: + BSEE + Product testing + Mechanical/electrical/mechatronics testing experience + Reverse engineering of competitor products + Prototype building + Documentation + Data acquisition systems Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.47/hr.
