POSITION SUMMARY At CVS, we're building an Infrastructure Platform to enable teams across CVS Digital to quickly and safely deploy code and operate applications at the scale of a Fortune 10 company! The Infrastructure Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across Retail, Pharmacy, Health Solutions, and Aetna writing applications that will be used by millions of customers. The Staff Software Development Engineer - IaaS is a high visibility, hands on software engineering role that will help lead the implementation of a modern application resource self service provisioning. To be effective in this role, you must have a passion and knowledge for building and managing highly scalable systems while working across a wide net of teams and skillsets. This is a newer team at CVS, and we need a strong technical leader who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate for best practices, and can collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, architects and leadership to build a platform that engineers want to use. This is a unique opportunity to help build a platform from the ground up and set the standard for exceptional code and safe deployments for a large company. _What we expect of you_ + You are a self-starter who can see the big picture and prioritize their work to make the largest impact on the business + You are a technologist who can work with other engineers to plan, prioritize and perform assigned tasks within deadlines + You can develop technical solutions in collaboration with other engineers across CVS Digital to ensure we're building an infrastructure platform with our customer's needs in mind + You will lead the implementation of a self-service platform that enables engineers to deploy code safely, quickly, and easily + You will keep an eye out for new and emerging technologies that improve performance, delivery, and the developer experience + You actively participate in peer code reviews, providing feedback to your fellow engineers to make them better and to improve the quality of the software we deliver + You enjoy automating developer pain away by developing a robust compute infrastructure + You approach all engineering work with a performance lens and make it easy for teams to identify performance bottlenecks + You find joy and pride in coaching and mentoring mid to early career software engineers + You look for opportunities to share what you've learned with the broader engineering organization REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS + 7+ years of managing and provisioning Kubernetes clusters in production environments + 5+ years of managing service mesh technologies, particularly Istio, including traffic management, security policies, and observability + 5+ years managing cloud infrastructure on GCP, AWS, or Azure including compute, networking, IAM and storage services + 5+ years managing TLS certificates, including automated renewal and integration with Kubernetes secrets + 2+ years of packaging, deploying, and managing Kubernetes application with Helm + Experience with networking concepts such as DNS, load balancing, ingress controllers, firewalls, and VPN + 2+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development decisions + Experience with leading teams who follow a Scrum/Agile development methodology PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Experience with building backend APIs with Java or GoLang + Experience with hybrid cloud environments + Experience automating through scripting and/or CLIs + Experience with observability for infrastructure services + Experience training and mentoring other engineers + Experience with zero-trust networking models and service-to-service authentication + Ability to understand the performance of a largely scaled infrastructure platform + Ability to identify customer needs and pain points and identify solutions + Ability to present the benefits and drawbacks of various architecture designs for infrastructure EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience) BUSINESS OVERVIEW Bring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $118,450.00 - $236,900.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
